Cully Housing Action Team (CHAT!)

The Cully Housing Action Team (CHAT!) started meeting in October of 2015 responding to feedback from neighbors about rising rents and housing prices in Cully. The group, a grassroots effort supported by Living Cully, meets monthly and has organized two neighborhood canvass’ to talk to Cully residents about their concerns around housing. With information gathered from neighbors, and through a group consensus process, CHAT! identified 3 top concerns; the rising costs of rent in Cully, lack of opportunitities for affordable homeownership, and lack of information about renters rights. On February 2nd, 2016 the group organized a workshop for neighbors to learn more about each of these issues, and to discuss possible avenues for action campaigns. The response was overwhelming. More than 100 Cully neighbors joined CHAT! on February 2nd to listen, learn, and share their stories.. Justin Buri, Executive Director for the Community Alliance of Tenants (CAT), Cameron Herrington from Living Cully and Jessica Larson from Welcome Home Coalition each spoke and led discussion groups. The next step for CHAT! is to convene in March to decide on an action campaign.  Join us! March 8th from 5:30-8 pm at Living Cully Plaza.
