Resident Spotlight: The Garcias

Cirilo, Aracely and their daughter Dana (age 7) live in a mobile home park in the Cully neighborhood along Killingsworth St. On a clear day you can spot Mount St. Helen’s in the distance, and if you get up on the roof you might see Mt. Hood as well. The Garcia family has been involved in the Cully Mobile Home Program since its inception in January 2017.

The Garcia’s main repair priority was their roof. It was covered in debris from nearby trees, deteriorating in certain areas, and causing leaks inside the home. A good friend of the family, who was experienced in construc-tion and lives in a mobile home park himself, offered to lead the repair project if they could secure the materials. In mid-October, the Garcia family and the Cully Mobile Home Program were able to work together to purchase and find donated and salvaged materials to complete the roof project. They got to work right away. Several neighbor volunteers came out to help, and they finished the project in one weekend!
