Hacienda Seeks Community Input on the Living Cully Plaza Development Project

We were so grateful to the community leaders who joined us last Friday, Oct. 6th to provide feedback on an early design for the Living Cully Plaza Development project.

Hacienda CDC, one of the Living Cully Partners, recently purchased Living Cully Plaza with plans to build a new mixed-use development starting in Spring 2019. The design includes over 150 units of affordable housing, community event space and commercial use. Focus group participants provided key feedback on three elements of the design: the community event space, the outdoor plaza, and the safety of Killingsworth St. and public access points.

Living Cully Plaza, formerly the Sugar Shack, has been a community-driven project since Living Cully first acquired the property in 2015. Since then, the site has been a positive space for community organizing, small business development and community events. Hacienda and design partners Salazar Architect Inc., PLACE, and William Wilson Architects are collaborating with Verde and the Cully community to ensure the design continues to be responsive to community feedback, and community needs.

The Living Cully Plaza design team together with Verde and Hacienda will host an Open House to the broader Cully community on October 27th, from 6-8 in the Living Cully Plaza event space. At the event, community members can provide feedback on more specific elements of the design. We would love to hear your feedback! Dinner and childcare will be provide. We hope to see you there!
